Protection Dog Training

The watch dog is basically an alert dog and will bark to let you know when someone approaches.

A leash dog is a protection dog that will work on a leash and may need the extra confidence of working close to the handler.

A fully trained protection dog is one that can engage an adversary on its own and is trained to protect the owner/handler.
How well the dog preforms as a protection dog will depend on the dog’s temperament along with the training it receives.

To successfully training a protection dog you need to start with a dog that has a sound temperament.

While a skilled trainer can make a weak dog look good on the training field, that doesn’t mean it will work in a real life situation. A good training program will include training in areas and situation where the dog will be expected to perform.
